Snow blowers are designed in different ways in order to satisfy different needs. You can't compare a small, single stage, electric snow blower with a big, dual-stage model as they are simply designed for different things. If you live in an area with mild winter and you only have to clear a deck or a small driveway during the wintertime, there really isn't a need to power a big snow blower when a small one can do the job just the same. Snow blowers are designed in different ways in order to satisfy different needs. You can’t compare a small, single stage, electric snow blower with a big, dual-stage model as they are simply designed for different things. If you live in an area with mild winter and you only have to clear a deck or a small driveway during the wintertime, there really isn’t a need to power a big snow blower when a small one can do the job just the same. Moreover, small, electric snow blowers are easier to maintain and store. It is exactly this type of snow blower that we wish to present to you today: the Power Smart 5011 (18″) 13-Amp Electric Snow Blower.

Features

Although it is small, the 13-amp electric motor is very powerful. It has an electric start and can cut big pieces of snow of up to 18-inch width and 9-inch depth. It features a steel auger with a rubber tip that can throw snow up to 30 feet. Its chute can be adjusted up to 180 degrees so that you can direct the snow wherever you think it is best. Moreover, this unit only costs $129.99. This is a huge advantage considering the fact that similar models on the market can cost up to $300. The unit comes with a 2-year factory warranty.

Convenience

We like this particular snowblower because it requires little to no maintenance. If used under the instructed conditions, it will do its job marvelous. If you push it past its limits, you will have to put some effort into it. For example, though it is designed for level areas, it can also handle some mild inclines, provided that you are willing to push it uphill. It can also handle chunks of ice. You may deal with the occasional snow clogs if you push it too much. If this happens, be very careful with how you clean it because snow blower injuries can be very dangerous. We also like the fact that it is very quiet, another benefit of its electric motor. The only major disadvantage of this snow blower is the fact that it is corded. As we said, it is after all designed for small clearing areas, but the cord can be an inconvenience at times.

Design

The lightweight design of the Power Smart 5011 makes it very easy to maneuver. As such, this snow thrower can even be used by seniors with limited strength. It weighs 38 pounds and has the following dimensions: 21″ x 21″ x 21″. It features plastic wheels which don’t provide the best traction in the snow, but on the bright side, they don’t leave any markings on paved areas either. The snow blower features an ergonomic handle which allows for a comfortable grip. An interesting feature is the fact that the auger stops rotating if you happen to lose your grip. The snow thrower can also be folded in order to be stored easily anywhere. It also comes with an auxiliary handle which allows you to easily carry the unit.
